Putin: Russia to deploy new Sarmat strategic nuclear missile by year-end

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia will deploy the new Sarmat strategic nuclear missile by the end of 2026, calling it ’the most powerful in the world'.
The missile is designed to deliver nuclear warheads to targets thousands of miles away in the United States or Europe.
Putin claimed the missile has a range exceeding 35,000 km and can penetrate all existing and future anti-missile defense systems.
Western analysts have expressed skepticism about Putin’s claims, noting previous test failures of the Sarmat, including an explosion in September 2024.
Russian state TV showed what it said was a successful test launch of the Sarmat on Tuesday.
