Waymo recalls 3,800 robotaxis due to flood risk

Waymo, a subsidiary of Alphabet, is recalling 3,800 of its robotaxis due to the risk of driving at high speed through flooded streets.
The recall follows an incident during a storm in April, where an unoccupied vehicle encountered flooding but no damage occurred.
Waymo is working on software improvements to respond appropriately to extreme weather and prevent entry into flash-flood-prone areas.
US authorities are also investigating Waymo for other incidents, including hitting a child in California and illegally overtaking a school bus in Texas.
