Eurobarometer: 58% of Austrians see benefit from EU membership, but perception of US drops sharply

58% of Austrians believe Austria benefits from EU membership, the third lowest in the EU, ahead of only Greece (57%) and Bulgaria (54%).
46% of Austrians want the EU to invest most in social, labor and health policy, while 12 countries prefer defense and security.
73% of Europeans see the EU as a ‘place of stability in a turbulent world’, and 81% support a common security and defense policy – the highest in 20 years.
Negative views of the US rose to 74% (from 60% in November 2025), while 83% have a negative view of Russia, 61% of China, and 41% of India.
