• Hungary has taken delivery of two JAS 39 Gripen C supersonic fighter jets from Saab, the first of four ordered platforms.
  • The new aircraft will be stationed at Kecskemét air base for rapid response to airspace violations.
  • The Hungarian Air Force now operates 16 Gripens, participating in the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission.
  • The Gripen C can carry up to 7,200 kg of armament, including IRIS-T, AIM-120, Meteor, and AGM-65 Maverick missiles.
  • Powered by a General Electric F414 engine, it reaches Mach 2 and has a range of 4,074 km.
  • The Chief of the Hungarian General Staff stated that the Gripen is a guarantee of Hungary’s sovereignty.
